Family’s First Cook Out on Cannon Beach, OR

September 11, 2012

Beaches, Food, Oregon

Not every “first” your kids experience will happen as a family, but when they do there is something magical about it. Watching their minds explode as you show them a new way to create or discover a place together is priceless and can only be captured in memories (or in my case a whole lot of photos and video).

Dek’s very first beach cookout happened over Labor Day weekend this year. Our hotel had fire pits available to guests. We staked one out and got the flames going nice and hot.

Mike speared a few hot dogs and gave one to Dek to hold over the open flame. We knowingly handed the child a poky stick that he could poke fire with.

He was not impressed.

Oh come on kid! Do you know how many pyromaniac 3 year olds out there dream of   getting to shift red-hot embers around?

Apparently he did not.

Well, at least I have photos of this momentous occasion and can taught him later in life when he does want to play with burning flames.

Snuggled up with Ty on the beach
