Get to Know...

Shark-001

So, Traci from Go Big or Go Home, what is your blog about? I have strange compulsion to visit the quirkiest roadside attractions I can find. I drag my unsuspecting small-town family to visit the “world’s largest”…whatever, and chronicles our adventures on the blog, Go BIG or Go Home. We hit the road to seek out the world’s largest bowling pin, kaleidoscope, light bulb, etc., then rate the attractions so our readers can decide whether to Go BIG, or stay home!

Favorite late night snack? Pretzels and Diet Coke

Best food discovery? Two in recent memory: the Reuben Fritters at Kitty Hoynes, an Irish pub in Syracuse, NY, and the homemade Apple Dumpling offered seasonally at Lititz Family Cupboard Bakery in Lititz, PA.

One thing you can’t leave the house without? A travel pack of Clorox wipes!

Plane, train, car or boat? Car. I love watching the scenery, while having the flexibility of having our own vehicle when we reach our destination.

Carry on or checked bag? Checked bag. I’m short, and hate having to deal with getting my bags in and out of overhead compartments.

What kind of luggage do you prefer? Wheeled suitcase.

Do you ever get tired of packing? YES! For me, packing is the biggest drawback to traveling, especially when I have to pack for the kids too.

Bowling-pin3

Favorite place you have traveled to? No way to answer that question in the singular! Short list: Kauai, Hawaii; San Gimignano, Italy; Salzburg, Austria; Burlington, Vermont.

Dreaming of going to next? I dream of traveling to Australia and Argentina, because I’ve never been anywhere in the southern hemisphere. More realistically, I’ll take the Outer Banks of North Carolina!

One thing you search out on your travels? Any place, attraction, or event claiming to be the world’s largest, longest, or tallest.

Meeting-Trezo-Je

Best travel advice? If you’re traveling with kids, just lower your expectations on what you’ll get to see and do. You’ll still have a great time!

Biggest travel pet peeve? TSA screenings. And airlines which don’t allow families with young kids to board first.

Most beautiful sunset/sunrise? The sunsets on the west coast beaches of Florida, in Clearwater and St. Petersburg, are pretty awesome!

And finally…sweet or savory? Both! Who doesn’t love chocolate-covered bacon?!

Traci Suppa drags her small-town family to see a quirky array of the world’s largest, longest, or tallest things, and blogs about it at Go BIG or Go Home, and you can also check her out onFacebook and Twitter.

Traci, if you’re into big things get yourself to Australia, quick! In my 5 years here I have, inadvertently, seen, the big mango, the big marlin, the big cheese, the big merino, the big trout, the big crab, the list goes on! The Great Barrier Reef and Ularu are pretty big, too! You’d be in road trip heaven.
