TASTE of Wood-fired Oysters from Cochon Restaurant New Orleans
Welcome to TASTE, a delicious part of Walking On Travels that will give you ideas for your next dining adventure with or without your kids. For many of us, we loved checking out the latest restaurant before we had kids, but we forgot about food after the baby was born. It is time to reignite those taste buds and get excited about what is out there to be devoured and enjoyed.
What: Wood-fired oysters with chili garlic butter
Where: Cochon Restaurant, 930 Tchoupitoulas Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
Why: I do not like oysters. Truth be told I’ve never actually had one. The texture reminds me of a cross between something like a booger and gum mixed together. Doesn’t sound appetizing does it? When I walked into the doors of Cochon Restaurant New Orleans and sat down, a plate of heaven was set before me disguised as the devil– wood-fired oysters with chili garlic butter. These oysters weren’t chewy. They were meaty. The leftover sauce demanded to be sopped up with a piece of bread. No dribble could be left behind of this savory, and surprisingly non-spicy goodness! Yes. It was that good. And yes, I am now an oyster convert… at least when they are wood-fired.
If you have a favorite morsel you discovered during your wanderings that you would like to share, please be in touch. I’m always looking to highlight the best bites around.
