Friday Postcards from Springtime in Dulwich London

 In Europe

Somehow my family got lucky enough to experience spring four times this year. How is that possible you ask? Well we were at home when spring started to bloom in Maryland. When we arrived in Paris at the end of April spring was in full swing. By the time we got to London the wisteria was out and the spring blooms were blossoming.

Although we witnessed more than a few cloudy skies while in London, it did not dampen our time wandering around the streets of Dulwich, part of the borough of Lambert and Southwark. Tulips were out in force, the cherry blossoms were popping, and the wisteria over the houses blew the perfect scent of spring through town. Luckily the rain held back so we could give the boys some much-needed downtime with our friends. We hit at least one park every day, a local museum and the adults even got a chance to sneak out for dinner while the kids slept soundly at our friends’ house with the sitter.

The roses might not have been blooming yet, but getting a whiff of spring in London is never a bad idea. At the end of our 5-week trip we caught the tail end of spring in Switzerland, but London is still my favorite. We may be in summer now here in Maryland, but I’ll take spring anywhere, anytime, especially if it is in Europe.

Where is your favorite place to experience spring?

Spring is my favorite season, and I really missed it when we were living in tropical Malaysia. The wisteria and tulips in your photos are beautiful. I wish my garden looked like that. I like that the traditional red public call boxes are still out there. I wonder how long until cell phones make them obsolete. My favorite place to experience spring is in Japan with all the cherry blossoms in bloom everywhere.

Don’t forget spring #5 in Scotland! There were flowers blooming in our townhouse apartment garden in Edinburgh, primroses in the wild at Glencoe, and an assorted number of unidentified wildflowers on Mull. 😉
