TASTE of Blue Cornmeal Pancakes at El Tovar Restaurant

 In Food, Restaurants

Welcome to TASTE, a delicious part of Walking On Travels that will give you ideas for your next dining adventure with or without your kids. For many of us, we loved checking out the latest restaurant before we had kids, but we forgot about food after the baby was born. It is time to reignite those taste buds and get excited about what is out there to be devoured and enjoyed.

What: El Tovar’s Pancake Trio- flavors of the Southwest are captured in Buttermilk, Blue Cornmeal and Buckwheat Pancakes served with Honey Pine Nut Butter and Prickly Pear Syrup

Where: El Tovar restaurant, 1 El Tovar Rd, Grand Canyon Village, AZ 86023

Why: I never thought my kids would eat a blue pancake, but when my husband ordered the Pancake Trio at El Tovar they couldn’t get enough. Maybe it was the novelty of it, but the taste couldn’t be beat either. Similar to cornmeal pancakes, but the three together- blue cornmeal, buckwheat and buttermilk- created harmony on the plate. The accompanying honey pine nut butter and prickly pear syrup added just a hint of sweetness without masking the flavors of the pancakes. Worth the trip to the Grand Canyon to grab a taste? Why not!
