Free Days At National Parks

The view of Mt. Rainier from Paradise in late September

We happened upon one of several free admission days into the country’s national parks this past September when we drove out to Mount Rainier. This also happened to be the last day that  Paradise Inn would be open for the season.

I just saw that another free admission day is coming up in mid-April. Not all national parks charge an entrance fee, but here  is a list of all free admission dates for 2011.

  • January 15-17
(Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday weekend)
  • April 16-24
    (National Park Week)
  • June 21
    (First day of summer)
  • September 24
    (Public Lands Day)
  • November 11-13
    (Veterans Day weekend)

If you aren’t sure about what national parks are in your area, click on  Find a Park to search by state.

NOTE: I’ll try to post more about our awesome adventure to Mount Rainier a little later. Dek loved crawling all over the place and we enjoyed the time out with our two friends who tagged along. Plus it was our 6-year-wedding anniversary, so that is always worth celebrating and sharing.
