Friday Postcards from the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa

As many of you know, we moved across the country via an almost two-week road trip with the boys last month. The trip was amazing, but had its own amount of stress as we tried to sell our house in Seattle, and once we landed in Maryland, started to search and buy a new place to call home. To say my stress levels have been above normal would be an understatement.

Yesterday I flew out to San Diego to attend the TMS Family Travel Conference being held at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, a place where I can learn more about blogging and getting you all the content you want to see. I’ve been looking forward to this conference for weeks. I’ll get to see some old friends, meet new ones, eat a lot of food and learn more about a topic I am passionate about and have built a career around. I was leaving a lot of things unresolved at home, but honestly, I just didn’t care.

After I flew in last night I got to my room and collapsed. I was exhausted. I was sharing the room with my friend Amy from We were both up at 6:45am. Naturally. I was coming from the east coast and she is a runner. We realized we had six hours to kill before the conference started and friends began to arrive. Why not relax? A novel idea and one we ran with. We took a brisk walk around the property before grabbing a buffet breakfast and ending at the adults-only pool and hot tubs. I have officially laid claim to a seat under the waterfall in one of the hot tubs. You can find me there if you need me. The water worked out some kinks I’d been carrying in my shoulders for over a month and gave me the positive start I needed to make it through the rest of the week.

We still have a few bits of paperwork and items on our to-do list to tackle for the houses, but while I’m in California I’m not going to let anything get to me. I’m going to soak up the sun, warmer weather and good conversation with friends. I’m going to reclaim my spot in the hot tub every night, learn during the day and eat some extra desserts. I deserve it. I need it. I’ll be a better mom when I get back to the boys because of it. Don’t you think?

What are you up to this weekend?

Welcome to the East coast. If you are in metro DC area, perhaps we will meet up at a Travel Massive event or something.
