Hotwire Turns 18 with a Big Birthday Deal and Jingle Contest

 In Travel Tips

Travel planning is stressful. Let’s not beat around the bush, shall we? I mean, you want to get the best prices, but you don’t have time to search all day. Those deal sites seem like a good idea, but what if you get a dud? Trust me, I’ve been there, done that.

Hotwire Hot Deals

This is why I’ve teamed up with Hotwire to celebrate their 18th birthday. Back in 2000, Hotwire launched with the idea that they could hide the name of the hotel, and give their customers the best rate until the booking was complete. While you may think this sounds similar to other online sites, it actually isn’t!

Hotwire Difference

One of the things that makes Hotwire different is that if you want save even more money, you can select a hotel based on location and price and be surprised by the name of the hotel. You can even book that same hotel via Hotwire without the “Hot Rate” and even look at the listed rate if you booked directly through the hotel to make sure you are getting a deal.

For instance, I’m looking for a hotel right now in Washington, DC for my husband’s annual office holiday party. Every year my parents come down to watch the boys so we can have a night out on the town. It is one of the few times we get to escape the doldrums of parenthood. If this is my one chance to live it up with my husband, I want a swanky hotel to luxuriate in, not a budget spot to shack up.

Hotwire can give that to me.

Hot Rate Hotels on Hotwire

Their commitment to “4-star hotels at 2-star prices” means I just scored a 5-star boutique hotel in Georgetown for $129/night instead of $174/night (it’s true. I’m looking at it right now in my search results) or another set of 5-star hotels in Georgetown for $187/night instead of $329/night, saving 43% on the room rate. Want to bring it down a star? How about $87 for a 4-star hotel, which includes one of my favorite Georgetown boutiques in the city- The Graham Georgetown.

Knowing that my choice is safe and will be one of four highly rated hotels, makes booking an unknown hotel safe and easy. I mean, who doesn’t like saving money, so they can spend more money on food? I have a few more Washington DC brunch spots to check off my list. That 43% savings may go straight into that brunch fund.

Oh, but that’s not all. What would a birthday be without a spectacular prize and a singing contest? You know the Hotwire.com jingle? Yup, that one that I just got stuck in your head by mentioning it.

Well, Hotwire wants to see how YOU, the person traveling close to home and across the globe, can reimagine that jingle in the weirdest way possible. We want to hear your cowboy, space cadet, ghouls and goblins, R2D2 and singing princess interpretations. That’s it.
