Window Shopping at Lou Lou Middleburg Virginia

 In Shopping, Style

I admit it. I love to shop. I love to window shop, but I love to bring home that shiny new bag with something just for me in it as well. Yes, I shop for my kids and my husband, but when I find something truly special, I give a little sigh of delight. That is what can be found at Lou Lou Middleburg. This boutique accessories shop started in Middleburg, VA in 2004, but has quickly spread across the East Coast with shops in DC, Virginia, Maryland, Boston, New Haven (CT), Atlanta and will soon be opening in Philadelphia, Charleston and Greenville, SC.

Walking into this shop during our stay at the Salamander Resort and Spa, I was instantly struck by the eclectic array of fashion and accessories, but more so by how they were presented. At first glance it is a jumble of racks, hangers and tables, but look a little closer and this is a beautifully curated shop. The interior designer collected accents to hang on the walls, fabrics to recover old chairs, creating a home for the dresses, necklaces, handbags and scarves that women walking in would instantly covet and want to bring home.

The sumptuous surroundings added an extra ounce of class to a boutique that really fits any price range. The sales rack is phenomenal and I’m still kicking myself for not picking up this dress I fell in love with (the boys were with me so this was a quick drive by shopping). Yes, this is a higher-end shop where you can find dresses well over $100, but the jewelry is fun and affordable, the clothing on the sales rack is ever-changing, and the prices are more accessible than what you will find at Anthropologie. The staff nows their stock, so ask for help if you need some advice.

Not everyone can shop in the store though, which is why Lou Lou brought their store online. The stock changes with the seasons and as the buyers see fashion trends shift. There is a small blog on the site that gives you the latest info on what’s being stocked, what they see coming up, and how you can grab it. Keep in mind that the website carries mostly accessories. You will need to go to the shops to grab the fabulous clothing.

Now if only I could sneak away from my kids for the morning so I could really dive into this shop. There is one closer to my house I’ve been dying to ogle a bit more.

About Window Shopping. This is the stylish part of Walking On Travels that will give you ideas for your next shopping adventure with or without your kids. For many of us, we loved checking out the local shops before we had kids, but we forgot about ourselves after the baby was born. It is time to reignite those stylish tastes and get excited about what is out there to be looked at and enjoy, no matter where we are in the world.

If you have a favorite shop you discovered during your wanderings that you would like to share, please be in touch. I’m always looking to highlight the best local shops.
