Mother Daughter getaway to Seven Springs Mountain Resort
Living less than an hour away from Pittsburgh, PA we have friends and family that are life-long skiers and have raved about Seven Springs for as long as I can remember. They’ve talked about the convenient location (less than an hour southeast of the city), the knowledgeable staff, and its affordability.
But, until I actually visited for myself, I didn’t get it.
My daughter and I had a blast on our visit to Seven Springs Mountain Resort, not only for the reasons listed above, but because the resort itself was such a manageable size. We were able to park the car and walk to all of the winter sports areas making our stay feel comfortable and familiar from the moment we arrived.
Seven Springs Mountain Resort Hotel
The resort hotel had a homey feel, and from the natural wood trim to the woodland animal touches throughout the lobby, dining areas, and our room, we felt cozy and relaxed. My 13-year-old daughter loved exploring our section of the hotel (the tower) and she even grabbed my camera and started snapping photos of decorations.
Our room was spacious with a king bed and connected living area with pull-out couch. With a king bed all to myself and a flat screen television in each room, I took the bedroom with a gorgeous view of the slops and my daughter settled in on the pull-out. The TVs were far enough away from each other that I didn’t have to listen to cartoons all of the time and she wasn’t asking me to turn down the news. We spent a ton of time on the patio just looking at the slopes and even dining as the weather during our stay was warm.
The resort is built with families (and cold weather!) in mind in that the hotel connects to the restaurants, stores, and other family activities all without having to walk outside. There’s even a bowling alley and indoor mini golf room if your kids tire of the slopes.
Skiing at Seven Springs
If you are a newbie skier or a more advanced, black diamond type of adventurer, Seven Springs has trails for all skiing types and styles. There are 33 slopes and trails, a terrain park for snowboard tricks, and we were always close to a chairlift (there’s 10!).
As newbie skiers, we spent most of our time on the Green Slopes and in the terrain-based learning area, but boredom never set in as there were several green slopes or different paths on the greens to change up our pace. And if you’ve never skied at night? The slopes are lit up beautifully to get that last run in before bed.

Snow Tubing at Seven Springs
If your family loves the thrill of zooming downhill, purchasing tickets to Seven Springs Snow Tubing Park is a top priority. Having never tubed on snow-covered slopes, we had no idea what to expect or if we would like it or not, but our hesitation quickly went to the wayside after our first trip down the hill.
The snow tubing park offers 2-hour sessions and a magic carpet that takes you and your tube back up the hill. My daughter and I tethered our solo tubes together and sped down the hill side by side. Well, I was backwards most of the time, but you get it.
Dining at Seven Springs
We encountered 50 degree temps on our visit, so we wanted to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Seven Springs does offer great sit-down style restaurants, but after a full day skiing and tubing we were in the mood for- what else- pizza! We headed to The Pizza Place, Seven Springs onsite pizza restaurant, and enjoyed a delicious pepperoni pizza. The restaurant offers booths so guests can eat in, but we chose to take it back to our room and eat on the patio.
Not a pizza fan? No worries! Seven Springs offers everything from traditional American food like burgers and fries to desserts in its seven restaurants- and even craft beer and liquor for the adults! Foggy Brews, the latest dining area at Seven Springs, has fun menu items including Bacon and Cashew Popcorn to Bison burgers!
Disclosure: My daughter and I were hosted by Seven Springs Mountain Resort to give you fine folks the scoop on what makes Seven Springs Mountain Resort so great for families. I was not asked to state a particular point of view and, as always, my opinions are my own.
