The Faberge Big Egg Hunt New York City
If you’re visiting New York City or live in the area, you can’t miss The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, happening now through April 17th. The citywide charity hunt features beautiful and uniquely crafted eggs sculptures. The sneakily placed eggs can be found primarily throughout Manhattan on street corners, coffee shops, restaurant and book shop windows, museums, and parks to name a few!
The event is not just for tourists to partake; I reside in New York City and have thoroughly enjoyed tracking down eggs with my husband and 14 month-old-daughter. My daughter is a little too young to appreciate the artistry of the eggs, but she has loved every minute strolling the city with Mom and Dad. Throughout my hunt, I have witnessed toddlers and young children squealing with delight as they approach the giant eggs with their parents! No matter the age, the hunt brings art and culture to the city streets for everyone to enjoy.
The sculptures are currently up for auction online, with the top 30 being sold live at Sotheby’s on April 22nd. The proceeds of both the online and Sotheby’s auction will benefit two fantastic charities, Studio In A School and Elephant Family.
If you’re itching to join the fun, I would suggest downloading the free interactive app to help guide your search and enter you in The Big Egg Hunt sweepstakes (more information on the app and website). The app includes an adorable egg map, egg basket (credit savannah), a virtual gift shop, and additional information on the two charities.
If you happen to miss the hunt, you can catch a glimpse of the eggs on display in Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan from April 18-28, 2014.
