TASTE of chicken and waffles from North Third Philadelphia
Welcome to TASTE, a delicious part of Walking On Travels that will give you ideas for your next dining adventure with or without your kids. For many of us, we loved checking out the latest restaurant before we had kids, but we forgot about food after the baby was born. It is time to reignite those taste buds and get excited about what is out there to be devoured and enjoyed.
What: Maple Tabasco dipped Fried chicken, fried (or scrambled) eggs, buttermilk waffles and breakfast potatoes.
Where: North Third Philadelphia, 801 N 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123
Why: Sweet and savory find marital bliss in North Third’s Chicken and Waffles. This Northern Liberties neighborhood spot in Philadelphia may play second fiddle to local brunch favorite Honey’s, but it is definitely not because of the food or service (really, I can’t figure out why it isn’t packed every Saturday and Sunday for brunch). Although there is tabasco in the sauce, there is definitely no heat to this perfectly crisped fried chicken slathered in maple goodness. Each bite has a little hint of sweet to go along with that salty crunch. The eggs add a bit more protein to your plate, while the full serving of waffles finish you off with a sweet goodbye. No need for dessert when you order this finger-lickin’ brunch dish. Enjoy every morsel!
