TASTE of Guava Bread Pudding French toast from Island Lava Java

 In Food, Restaurants, USA

Welcome to TASTE, a delicious part of Walking On Travels that will give you ideas for your next dining adventure with or without your kids. For many of us, we loved checking out the latest restaurant before we had kids, but we forgot about food after the baby was born. It is time to reignite those taste buds and get excited about what is out there to be devoured and enjoyed.

What: Guava Bread Pudding French toast

Where: Island Lava Java, 75-5799 Ali`i Drive, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740

Why: I’ve loved French toast since I was a little girl. I’d make it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even snacks. Everytime we went out for breakfast my parents knew what I wanted to get. This obsession wasn’t left behind with my childhood. Oh no, it has only gotten worse. I’ve been on the hunt for the best French toast and I think I found a good contender at Island Lava Java on the Big Island of Hawaii. No syrup is required to sweeten up this breakfast entree; it comes with all you need right in the bread. The macadamia nuts and fruit compote add a little more island flavor, but give me a plain slice of guava bread pudding French toast and I’ll be happy for hours. I will admit that I tasted this treat for the first time when I was pregnant, but I have been assured by other French toast lovers that this is indeed one of the top bites they have ever had. Now to continue my hunt to see if I can find a better French toast to top it. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

If you have a favorite morsel you discovered during your wanderings that you would like to share, please be in touch. I’m always looking to highlight the best bites around.
